Many Many Updates! 4/15 through 4/22

It is so hard to write in the blog when there's so much to do, and the internet is uncooperative!

Please read, comment, and share!

So I thought I would update you on this one posting, and hope I can keep it going forward!  (PS, Bryan has a lot of pictures that I don't have yet, so I will be going back and adding those in as I go.  Thanks for your understanding!)

Monday, April 15:  We looked at houses all morning.  I will blog about that.  We found one we liked among the batch (I think we looked at 6 places altogether?)  Called the recommended mortgage lender, and she shot us down.  Bryan's transfer is not set yet, and I don't have a job.  So they said we had to wait.  We had enough cash to buy the place outright, but that would have left us with ZERO for any of the things we needed for the house (washer/dryer, etc.) or any cash to live on until we got our jobs solidified.  So it was back to looking for a camper.

However, the realtor called us back.  The seller on the house we wanted was willing to owner finance the small amount we needed.  They called it a "Land Contract".  We were able to amortize the amount for 15 years, with the agreement to pay it off in 2 years, to keep the payment low until we could pay it off.  So they are able to fast track the closing and get it done by Friday!  Holey Cow!  We jumped on it.

Tuesday, April 16:  We were at the real estate office early to draft the offer.  It went through a couple hours later.  After that we took at drive around the area and did some sight seeing.  Still staying at the hotel.

Wednesday, April 17:  We did laundry and Bryan got a hair cut.  Drove up to Butternut and had lunch, drove on to Copper Falls.  The weather was somewhat crappy (rain mostly and bitter cold wind) so we did not hike up to the falls.  But the drive was beautiful!

Thursday, April 18:  We had to find a stupid Wells Fargo branch to get the wire transferred.  Had to drive clear to Eau Claire, 2 hours away.  While we were there, they kind of lectured us about not having an appointment.  Since when do you have to have an appointment to get something done at a bank?  We are not happy with Wells Fargo right now!  But the transfer went through, so all is well.

Friday, April 19:  Happy 60th Birthday to Bryan!  He got a 3-car garage for his birthday!  Hahaha.  We closed on the house and started moving stuff in.  Our goal was to get the beds in.  Unloaded the pickup first so Bryan could go to the lumber yard and get plywood to cover the basement stairs. (eventually we will make that into a trap door configuration).  We did not want Poor Kittie to go down there, so we had to hurry to get that taken care of.  Once we did that, we started on the trailer.  We got to one of the beds by the time we were tuckered out.  So I slept on my bed in the living room, and Bryan slept on his cot.  Yay!  No more hotel.  Did you ever think that Bryan would get tired of free breakfast waffles?  He is!

Saturday, April 20:  We worked on getting the beds up the stairs.  Zoiks.  Narrow and steep, as per most old farm houses!  My mattress went up reasonably ok.  The box springs just would not go.  So Bryan watched some You Tube vids on how to saw the box springs in half.  Hahaha we cut into my box spring and found out it was just a box, with no springs in it!  Wow!  So, we cut it in half, folded it (because you just cut the frame and not the cloth!)  Then we unfolded it, and Bryan, after a trip to the hardware store, reassembled it.  I'm going to put a bed skirt on it, and you will never know it was apart.  Worked like a charm.  We had decided to get a new bed for Bryan, so we didn't cut the old box springs up yet for that bed, but we will likely have to, to put it in our spare room.

I did some grocery shopping.  Still no pans in the kitchen, so we will continue to eat TV dinners.  I bought a pizza pan and a frozen pizza.

You all are probably wondering about the freezer contents.  Well, we kept it under ice the whole time.  It did not stay frozen, but it stayed cold.  I now have several meats in the fridge that will need to be cooked, but I had no pans!  However, the pizza pan will allow me to bake the meats.  So that will be a job for Monday.

Sunday, April 21:  We finished unloading the trailer, then headed to Menards in Rhinelander (1.5 hours away) to buy appliances.  There is an 11% rebate, so we will get some money back!  We bought a garbage disposal, dish washer, washer/dryer pair, and Bryan's mattress.  When we got home, we brought the bed in, but left the others in the garage.  Then we ordered a split queen box spring from Wayfair, so we don't have to cut it up to get it upstairs.

Monday, April 22:  I am catching up on office work.  I got an appointment for internet to be installed.  Did some talking to the insurance company, finalizing insurance for the house.  Messed with Colorado unemployment, changed addresses and whatnot.  Catching up this BLOG!  And I have a phone interview for a job in a while.  And of course, I will be cooking meat.  Bryan, last I checked, was installing the clothes dryer.  Yay!  I will have laundry facilities by end of day.  Bryan has also been looking for a riding mower with a leaf sucker attachment, and he thought he might have to go pick one up today.  He's getting a used one.  Giant lawn.  Need a big tractor!

We bought garden seeds at Menards!!!!

I will be measuring for curtains and figuring out a new desk for my somewhat weird office configuration.

We will likely go to Tomah tomorrow to pick up a load of our stored stuff.  Bryan thinks he might start work at the Pick-n-Save next week, so we have to hurry to get that stuff up here.  It's a 6 hour round trip, so it's hard to make.  But we will get it done.  Only two loads went into that storage, but Bryan doesn't want to tetris it in so tightly...that takes a lot of time, which we are running out of.  So we will likely make it 3 loads.
